Fans of Japanese pop culture rejoice. Sakura Sunday’s official area focused on anime, manga, and other forms of contemporary Japanese culture is getting a bigger footprint. Little Akiba – drawing on the trends of one of Tokyo’s most famous districts – Akihabara casually referred to as Akiba – Litte Akiba will be the place to be for all things otaku. In addition to vendors of anime/manga type goods, the area will also include:
Karaoke & J-Core Music
DJ Kurono with Emi and Kisa will be providing the soundtrack and setting the mood for the area with anime inspired music and karaoke performances. You can get in the act too by stopping by to sing your favorite Japanese song. Feel free to bring your music on CD, USB drive, or MP3 player to guarantee your chance to showcase your pipes!
Cosplay Fashion Show
Eastern Pennsylvania’s largest anime convention Zenkaikon will return to bring a sampling of their annual festivities. In addition to their Anime/Manga swap meet, they’ll be leading the cosplay fashion show at 1:30! Follow Zenkaikon on facebook, tumblr, or twitter to stay up to date on details and for news on their convention.
How do I get to Little Akiba?
Take the Chuo line to the… just kidding. Little Akiba is now located between the Main entrance and the Horticulture Center just off the pathway at the reflecting pool (formerly the second stage/martial arts area). Stay tuned for our map.
