Hayao Miyazaki vs. Godzilla
47 Ronin couldn’t take down one old man. Maybe Japan’s greatest monster will fare better. ┐(‘～`;)┌ Godzilla has defeated Mothra, Radon, King Ghidorah, and Mecha-Godzilla, but how do these giants of film compare to Hayao Miyazaki? The veteran animator has come out of retirement (again) to wreak havoc on March Japan-ness. Which of these titans will emerge victorious?
Hatsune Miku vs. Cat Cafes
Hatsune Miku shorted out the purikura booth with her animated adorableness in round one, but will be facing a different kind of cute cuddly competitor in round 2: Cat Cafes. Will the digital charms win out or will the comfort of real furry felines prove too much to overcome?
Sailor Moon vs. Attack on Titan
Moon Prism Power proved too much for the Ghost in the Shell, while the Titans had Kaomoji all like ヽ(ﾟДﾟ)ﾉ. Will Attack on Titan gobble up the competition or will the sailor soldiers punish the survey corps in the name of the moon?
Cosplay vs. Luigi Death Stare
Cosplay walked all over AKB48 in Round 1, while Luigi Death Stare chased Hello Kitty in an upset. Can LDS continue to roll over the haters? Or will the popularity of Cosplay outdress the lesser known Mario brother?
Hanami vs. Tea Ceremony
After dispatching Tatami and Bonsai respectively, this round 2 match-up comes down to one simple question: When taking in nature, do you prefer alcohol (hanami) or caffeine (tea ceremony)?
Kotatsu vs. Onsen
These two hotties are vying for your luxurious attention. Do you prefer the dry and cuddly kotatsu? Or maybe the wet and steamy onsen is more to your liking?
Tale of Genji vs. Origami
The world’s oldest novel outlasted kabuki in round 1 (no small feat!), while origami proved flexibility can defeat the strength of kendo. Will the Tale of Genji fold in the face of great pressure or will the power of the written word oust origami as the better use of paper?
Zen Gardens vs. Sumo
It doesn’t get more opposite than this: peace, serenity and tranquility (zen gardens) vs big, loud, clashing of giants (Sumo). Which will advance to the Sweet Sixteen?
