J-pop band HIDEKING is making their way stateside from Tokyo and performing in Washington, D.C. before hitting the main stage at Sakura Sunday. The six-piece rock group have been performing since April 2013 and some members are making their second return since their performance in 2013 with the band Magverry.
HIDEKING is a solo project of vocalist Hideki Okubo. From 2006 until 2013, he was a vocalist and guitarist for Spyralcall. Two songs from Spyralcall’s 4th album “DEATH POP the PARTY” were used as the theme songs for several films. In February 2013, the group broke up and Okubo met HIDEKING’s eventual supporting members.
Members include guitarist Nobu of Magverry, bassist Yutara from Zillapark, Takeshi on drums, and You and D.chi doing backup vocals. Check out the video for「ヤバい愛〜噂のギャングスター〜」”Dangerous Love ~ Rumor of a Gangster” and start getting excited for their performance at the Main Stage at 1:15 pm! See the full Sakura Sunday schedule.
