For another year the Tamagawa University Taiko Drum and Dance Troupe is back to perform at the Cherry Blossom Festival! They will be performing at five schools in the greater Philadelphia area, starting at West Chester University on Saturday, April 2nd and continuing on to Swarthmore College on Sunday, Ursinus College on Monday, Haverford College on Tuesday, Westtown School on Wednesday, and finally at Sakura Sunday on April 17th! Taiko are drums from Japan that have been used as an important aspect of the countries’ traditional music throughout history. Hailing from a university in Tokyo, the Tamagawa University Taiko Drum and Dance Troupe gives a grand performance using highly coordinated drumming in traditional Japanese costumes, along with equally incredible dances. This performance is a not to be missed chance at witnessing traditional Japanese culture put to life on stage while still in the Philadelphia area!
