Sakura Sunday’s official area focused on anime, manga, and other forms of Japanese pop culture will return this year. Located at the rear of the Horticultural Building, Little Akiba is named after one of Tokyo’s most famous districts – Akihabara– the place for all things otaku! In addition to vendors of anime/manga-related goods, this hotspot will also include:
Harajuku Fashion Show
This year, Smak Parlour will be showcasing Harajuku-inspired outfits on both the main stage and Little Akiba’s runway! Don’t miss the beautiful outfits on display at 12:15 on the main stage, or at 1:00 pm in Little Akiba. Check out the profile here for more information!
Yosakoi Dance Project 10tecomai
Yosakoi Dance Project 10tecomai will perform the exciting Matsuri-style Dance of “Yosakoi” – An energetic exciting fusion of Japanese Traditional with contemporary styles of music and dance. For over ten years 10tecomai has remained one of the few teams in all of the United States that dances this exciting style. Check out their Facebook page and come see them perform at 1:30!
Cosplay Fashion Show
Eastern Pennsylvania’s largest anime convention Zenkaikon will return to bring a sampling of their annual festivities. Come to see their Cosplay Showcase on the Main Stage at 11:45 am. After that, make sure you don’t miss the Fashion Show itself at 2:30 pm in Little Akiba. Interested in taking part? Find registration for the Showcase and Fashion Show at the Zenkaikon website here. Follow Zenkaikon on facebook, tumblr, or twitter to stay up to date on details and for news on their 2018 Philadelphia convention.
Don’t forget to walk around to visit the many vendors, grab a bite to eat, or enjoy your favorite bubble tea while you watch KuroPOP blow you away with their second performance of the day at 4:00 PM!
A DJ will be playing throughout the day, and Karaoke will also be ongoing. Check out the stage schedule for Sakura Sunday’s full line up.
